OpenAI is widening the footprint of its advertising business. In an announcement dated October 21, 2026, the company said ChatGPT Ads is now available in 89 countries after adding 26 new markets. The expansion includes 14 Latin American countries, among them Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru, as well as Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

Since the platform launched just over eight months ago, more than 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns, according to OpenAI. The company notes that more than 1.2 billion people use ChatGPT weekly, and it frames ads as a way for businesses to reach users during conversational moments of research and decision-making. Advertisers can access the platform through technology partners or self-service via Ads Manager.

OpenAI reiterates its advertising principles: ads are clearly labeled and separate from ChatGPT answers, conversations are kept private from advertisers, customer data is not sold, and advertising does not influence ChatGPT's responses. The company says its next phase will focus on additional formats, objectives, buying options, and measurement capabilities.
