Exa has released version 3.0 of its search API, an upgrade that includes a larger embedding model and a new feature called Dynamic Highlights. The company also introduced Exa Lite, a lower-cost tier priced at $4 per 1,000 requests.
According to a post on MarkTechPost, Exa reports that the new API leads eight benchmarks comparing it against Perplexity, Brave, and Parallel. The benchmarks were run by Exa itself, so the results are self-reported and not independently verified.
The update appears aimed at making the API more competitive both in quality and price, though the lack of third-party evaluation means users should treat the claims with some caution.
