OpenAI published three items this week that together frame its public positioning on governance and impact. In one, the company explicitly supports the EU Code of Practice on AI, endorsing provenance standards and tools that help people identify AI-generated content. That is a concrete policy commitment, distinct from the other two releases.
The second is a broader vision statement, "Built to benefit everyone," which restates OpenAI's goal of ensuring AGI benefits all of humanity. It emphasises access and safety but offers few specifics. The third launch, the Economic Research Exchange, is a funded research programme inviting applications to study AI's effects on jobs, productivity, and the economy.
Across all three, OpenAI consistently frames itself as a responsible actor: transparent content, safe AGI, and evidence-based economic understanding. The EU pledge is the most actionable, the vision the least, and the research exchange the most concrete new initiative. They differ in scope but share a common thread of proactive engagement with regulators and researchers.
