NVIDIA has announced that Perplexity Portable Computer is now available on Windows, powered by NVIDIA RTX. It is a local version of the agent Perplexity Computer, designed to plan and carry out multistep tasks directly on a PC.
The significance, according to NVIDIA, is that local models are becoming capable enough for AI agents to handle more work on-device. This lets users keep sensitive information on their own machine rather than sending it elsewhere.
NVIDIA frames RTX acceleration as central to making this local agent practical on Windows systems. The announcement does not compare the portable version with Perplexity's cloud-based offering, and no other sources were included.
