OpenAI reports that Stack Overflow for Agents saw signups triple after the release of a ChatGPT plugin built by just two engineers. The plugin was developed in a few weeks using Codex, OpenAI's code-generation tool, according to the company's case study.
The plugin appears to have been a major adoption driver: OpenAI says it helped fuel up to 10× growth in agent creation on the platform. The case study credits the speed of Codex-assisted development for letting a tiny team deliver the integration quickly.
Because this is a single vendor's account, the numbers are self-reported and not independently verified. Still, the result highlights how small teams can use AI coding assistants to build integrations that move real product metrics.
