Anbernic has unveiled the RG DDS, a dual-screen clamshell handheld aimed at fans of Nintendo's 3DS. The "DDS" stands for "Dream Dual-Screen," and the device follows last year's RG DS. It runs on a Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 chip, which Anbernic says should allow emulation of Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 2 games.

The RG DDS is built around two displays: a 4.7-inch main screen at 1,200x720 (5:3) and a 4-inch secondary screen at 960x720 (4:3). Those ratios closely match the 3DS's dual screens. The clamshell design also includes controls similar to the 3DS, an extra right analog stick, a stowable capacitive stylus, and a dedicated AI button whose function has not yet been disclosed.

Business details remain thin. Anbernic has not released pricing or a release date, and the only confirmed internal spec beyond the chip is a 6,000mAh battery. The previous RG DS launched at $99, and Engadget expects this successor to be more expensive. At the same time, Anbernic's typical pricing strategy might let the company undercut the Retroid Pocket Duo Lite, which starts at $149.
