Android Central has laid off all of its full-time editorial staff, but owner Future says the site will not shut down. The Verge reports that four of the six staffers listed on the site's staff page posted publicly about the layoffs, and both Managing Editor Derrek Lee and former senior editor Nicholas Sutrich confirmed that all remaining staff had been cut.
The former staffers were not told whether the site would continue. Since the layoffs, new posts have appeared on Android Central, but they are written by freelance contributors rather than the previous full-time staff.
Future spokesperson Nicole Martineau told The Verge: "Future will continue to publish Android Central. We'll share further information about the future of the site in due course." The company declined additional comment. The Verge also notes that Android Police, another Android-focused outlet, recently laid off at least two staffers; its owner, Valnet, did not respond to a request for comment.
