Anthropic has announced Claude Duet, a proactive personal agent now in a research preview. US Claude subscribers can join a waitlist to try it. The agent is positioned as Anthropic's answer to Meta Muse and OpenAI Dots, and it runs on the Opus 5.5 model with standalone Android and iOS apps, so users do not need to keep a Claude session open.
Duet generates a daily briefing with action items from connected apps and can handle tasks ranging from scheduling meetings to building dashboards and web apps. It runs on its own virtual machine and only messages users when something needs attention. Notably, Anthropic says Duet will be included in its $20-per-month Pro plan once it reaches general availability, a contrast with OpenAI's Dots, which are currently limited to the $100-per-month Pro tier.
The company acknowledges that Duet shares usage limits with other Claude tools, so it checks connected accounts every few hours to avoid exhausting rate limits. On security, Anthropic says Duet uses a new classifier and system prompt to prevent sensitive information leaks, never directly sees passwords or sign-in tokens, and only processes health or financial data if explicitly asked. More safety details are promised in the coming days, but the source notes that the real test will be how much trust users are willing to place in an agent with access to their digital life.
