Apple is expected to announce more hardware before the end of the year, according to details and images discovered in Apple's own code by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris and reported by The Verge. The leak points to three products: a second-generation HomePod Mini, an iPad mini 8, and a new Apple TV 4K.
The HomePod Mini 2 appears to carry forward a design similar to the original model from late 2020, but leaked images show new color options in green, pink, blue, white, and black. The current model's bright orange, yellow, and blue shades would be replaced by these more subdued tones. The iPad mini 8 would replace the two-year-old seventh-generation model with Apple's A20 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone Duo. Its front-facing camera has moved to the landscape edge, and a groove on the top of the display suggests an added speaker.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has previously reported that the next iPad could also add improved waterproofing through a vibration-based speaker and use an OLED display like the larger iPad Pro. The current Apple TV 4K is nearly four years old, and today's leak gives little away about upgrades beyond a similar design. Earlier details from Perris pointed to a possible A17 Pro chip, while Gurman said in 2024 that the next Apple TV would use Apple's in-house Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip now known as the N1.
The details from Perris and Gurman align rather than conflict, and the products are expected before the end of the year. Still, because this is one leak-based report, nothing is confirmed until Apple makes an official announcement.
