According to The Verge, citing 9to5Mac, the latest iOS 27.2 beta swaps Apple Music's familiar red icon for a monochrome version. In light mode, the icon is a black music note on a white background; in dark mode, the colors are reversed. The note itself is also said to have a slightly sharper angle than the current design.

Color is being drained elsewhere in the app as well. Widgets reportedly now have black backgrounds, and the tab bar uses a blue accent only for the active tab. The Verge notes that a new Apple Music logo was spotted last month on the Apple Music Hall website, suggesting the icon change could be part of a wider brand refresh.

If the monochrome icon reaches a public release, users with the tinted homescreen option could still make it resemble the old red version. The report is based on beta software and has not been announced by Apple, so the final design could change before rollout.
