Apple Music has introduced a redesigned icon in the latest iOS beta, swapping its signature red beamed note for a black-and-white version. The update appears in iOS 27.2 beta 4, with a white-on-black variant for dark mode. The full Apple Music wordmark also changed to a bolder, all-lowercase style, first seen at the launch of Apple Music Hall in London.
The new icon is tilted slightly more to the left, has more oval note bottoms, and includes a subtle drop shadow. Apple also removed red from home screen widgets and changed the in-app pink/red tint to blue. A "Clear" version allows users to tint the icon to any color, matching other iOS icons.
Reaction online has been largely negative. Commenters called it "boring," "generic," and "the worst logo change of all time," with some noting it resembles "graphics design is my passion" memes. A minority praised the simpler look, saying the red never made sense. Because the change is in beta, Apple could still adjust, but the company typically sticks with such decisions.
