According to Engadget, MacRumors has uncovered images of the upcoming HomePod mini 2 inside Apple's own code. The speaker is reported to come in green, pink, light blue, white, and black, replacing the current yellow, orange, blue, white, and midnight options. The overall design appears unchanged from the model introduced in October 2020.
The discovery aligns with earlier reports that Apple plans to launch an updated HomePod mini and a new Apple TV streaming box this fall, possibly alongside the Siri AI assistant. Apple's code reportedly points to a release in the near future. No pricing or specifications have been confirmed; the original launched at $99 and was later raised to $129.
Engadget notes that a new chip is plausible but speculative, given the age of the original and expected Siri AI integration. There is also a separate rumor of a smart home hub designed around Siri AI, said to resemble a sliced HomePod mini with a small display. That device, if real, would be distinct from the HomePod mini 2.
