BMW has finally detailed the reborn i3 sedan, its first model built on the Neue Klasse platform. The 2027 i3 50 xDrive will start at $61,500 plus a $1,350 destination fee, with US deliveries beginning in the first quarter of 2027. That puts it squarely in the Mercedes C-Class segment and well below the upcoming Mercedes EQS, which boasts a higher WLTP range estimate but a much higher price.

The car uses two motors—a rear electrically excited synchronous motor and a front asynchronous unit—for a combined 463 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque. BMW estimates 468 miles of EPA range, up from earlier guesses of around 440 miles. The battery is a Gen6 pack with cylindrical 46mm x 95mm cells that provide a 20% energy density improvement over the previous prismatic cells, though BMW has not disclosed total capacity.

The i3 also comes with bidirectional charging, Plug & Charge support across ten providers, and a redesigned iDrive system featuring a windshield projection display and a 17.9-inch touchscreen. Amazon's Alexa is integrated for natural voice commands, and the infotainment runs on an Android-based platform with over-the-air updates. A sportier i3 M60 xDrive is planned for later in 2027, but its price has not been announced.
