Semiconductor stocks have taken a beating recently, but CNBC's Jim Cramer argues investors shouldn't abandon the group just yet. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF has fallen 7.2% across six consecutive sessions, a sharp reversal for a sector that led markets earlier this year.
Cramer acknowledges that higher oil prices and interest rates could keep pressuring chip stocks in the near term. However, he says the selloff is increasingly indiscriminate: semiconductor names are trading together regardless of their individual fundamentals. That, he argues, hides the robust demand that powered the sector's earlier rally.
In other words, the current decline may say more about macro headwinds than about the health of the chip industry itself. For investors, the takeaway is to look past the sector-wide slump and focus on the underlying business strength that Cramer believes remains intact.
