The Debian Linux project has opened a call for community artwork ahead of its next major release, Debian 14, codenamed Forky. The selected design will appear on boot screens, login prompts, and desktop wallpapers for millions of users. The submission deadline is November 26.

As with previous release cycles, the artwork must feel distinctively Debian, integrate cleanly without requiring core software patches, and stay visually appealing over time. The current default theme, Elise Couper's "Ceratopsian," was chosen for Debian 13 Trixie, and the new release continues the Toy Story naming tradition with Forky.

Debian, which celebrated its 33rd anniversary in August 2026, is in the later stages of Forky's development. The latest point release, Trixie 13.7, arrived on September 12, 2026. The artwork selection is one of the final items to be checked before the release is made available. Artists can review the full submission requirements on the Debian Wiki.
