Ember’s Mug 3 is the company’s latest temperature-controlled mug, designed to keep hot drinks at a set temperature rather than letting them go lukewarm. The main upgrade is a button on the bottom of the mug that cycles through five temperature presets, starting at 125 degrees Fahrenheit and going up to 145. That allows users to make their drink hotter without pulling out their phone, a change TechCrunch’s reviewer says was especially useful at night. It is also positioned as a fix for users who have had connectivity or pairing issues with the Ember app.

The companion app still works for more control, offering recommended presets such as 136 degrees for black coffee, 132 degrees for green tea, and 142 degrees for lemon water, plus custom temperatures. The Mug 3 also adds a sliding lid meant to reduce spills, keeps drinks warm for up to three hours on a charge, and is the first Ember mug that can go in the top rack of a dishwasher. The reviewer notes that the mug is not microwave safe, and calls out one design flaw: the on-mug button sits on the bottom, which is awkward to press when the mug is full of hot liquid.

Pricing starts at $129 for the 10-ounce model and $149 for the 14-ounce version. The smaller size comes in black, white, and stainless steel; the larger size is available in eight colors. Ember also introduced the Tumbler 2, a 16-ounce travel mug priced at $179 and designed to fit standard car cup holders. It replaces both the Travel Mug 2 and the original Tumbler, and is available alongside the Mug 3 through Ember’s website, Target, and Amazon.
