According to a Bloomberg report cited by TechCrunch, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt owns about 1% of AI lab Anthropic, a stake acquired through an investment of tens of millions of dollars in the company's Series A round in 2021, when Anthropic was valued at $461 million.

The reported stake is roughly half the size of the 2% held by Anthropic's co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei. With Anthropic widely expected to go public before the end of the year, top-end market estimates value the company at up to $2 trillion, which would make Schmidt's stake worth as much as $20 billion — a significant addition to his current net worth of $57.5 billion.

Schmidt has been an active tech investor since leaving Google's CEO role in 2011, deploying capital through Tomorrow Ventures, Innovation Endeavors Management, and his family office Hillspire. His other AI investments include Mistral, General Intuition, and Reflection AI. Neither Schmidt nor Anthropic responded to requests for comment.
