Fujifilm's new Instax Pal 2 is a pocket-sized digital camera that builds on its predecessor by adding more standalone features. It has a 1/3.06-inch CMOS sensor capable of 10MP or 1MP stills, an f/2.2 lens, and an LED flash. The camera is designed for horizontal use and includes both optical and digital viewfinders.
The camera emphasizes a tactile shooting experience. A lever selects frames matching Instax film formats, while a dial cycles through downloadable color filters and effects. Images can be transferred directly to a smartphone using a built-in USB-C connector, with Bluetooth and direct printing to Instax Link printers also supported.
According to a PetaPixel video review cited by Engadget, the main drawback is the slow interface. That could be a minor issue for buyers already invested in Fujifilm's ecosystem or looking for an affordable digital camera with a retro feel. The Pal 2 is available for pre-order at $170 in white or silver-and-black.
