Google has begun rolling out a software update for its Pixel Buds 2A and Pro 2, bringing features first teased in August. The headline addition is sleep detection powered by a paired Pixel Watch: when the wearer falls asleep, the buds pause music, silence notifications, and disable touch controls.
Other updates include tap-to-mute during calls and one-tap live translation, both of which require a Pixel phone, plus new Gemini voice commands for adjusting active noise cancellation, EQ, and touch controls. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 also gain Dynamic ANC, which adapts audio and noise cancellation based on how well the buds are sealed in the ear.
The rollout was announced in a Pixel Buds community forum post. The original version of that post said all features except Dynamic ANC would also reach the original Pixel Buds Pro, but all mention of those earbuds has since been removed. Google has not yet commented on the change.
