According to The Verge, Google Play is running a promotion through October 19 that offers up to 20 percent off gift cards from 30 retailers, spanning categories like books, tech, food, and travel. The deal is notable because gift card discounts are uncommon, and this one applies to essentially anything a store sells.
Specific offers include 20 percent off a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card, 20 percent off a $100 REI gift card, and 10 percent off a $100 GameStop gift card. The promotion also extends to subscriptions such as Calm and DuoLingo, as well as bonuses on in-app purchases in games like Pokémon Go and PUBG Mobile.
No Android phone or tablet is needed to participate, but shoppers must sign up for a Google Play account if they don't already have one. The Verge notes that it may earn a commission from purchases made through its links, which is standard for commerce coverage.
