Leaked gameplay footage, published by MP1st and reported by Engadget, appears to show a canceled Assassin's Creed game called Destiny, set in ancient China during the Qin Empire in 206 BCE. The footage shows typical series elements like scaling castle walls and performing stealth kills, alongside placeholder combat skills and weapons, including an unusual deadly umbrella.
The project was reportedly being developed by Ubisoft and Tencent. Its cancellation means those assets may never be used, but Ubisoft still has Assassin's Creed Jade, a mobile entry set in ancient China that was announced in 2022. According to a 2024 Reuters report, Jade was delayed to 2025, and a Ubisoft executive recently told VGC it will feature co-op gameplay.
For Ubisoft, the leak underscores the company's focus on mobile, with Jade now the main vehicle for its ancient China setting. Whether any elements from the canceled Destiny will carry over remains unconfirmed, though the source notes it is possible if Ubisoft chooses to reuse them.
