Mach9, founded in 2021 as Mach9 Robotics, has raised a $34 million Series A round led by First Round Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners. The startup originally built hardware for visual inspections in civil engineering, but founder Alex Baikovitz said the real problem was not data capture—it was turning that data into usable survey-grade designs. So the company dropped the Robotics name and pivoted to AI-powered CAD software.

The bet appears to be paying off. Mach9 says nearly 100 customers have used its private-beta software on more than 2,500 projects. The company claims its AI models can convert laser scans and imagery into detailed, centimeter-accurate drawings—work that traditionally takes about a week per mile in legacy tools from incumbents like Autodesk and Bentley Systems. The software produces a first draft engineers can refine, helping them manage liability and take on larger projects.

Mach9 is one of several startups trying to modernize construction planning and infrastructure. CivilGrid recently raised $26 million for its underground mapping platform, while Blueprints AI is working on instant permit-ready architectural plans. Baikovitz said Mach9 will use the new funding to improve its product, hire industry experts, and scale the organization to keep up with demand.
