Meta has signed a deal with plastics recycling startup MacroCycle that will help the company build its first commercial factory. The agreement gives MacroCycle an anchor customer for the recycled material it plans to produce, reducing the commercial risk of scaling up from pilot stage.

MacroCycle’s process is aimed at tackling hard-to-recycle plastics, a growing waste stream that traditional mechanical recycling often cannot handle. With Meta as a buyer, the startup gains both revenue and a proof point for its technology as it moves toward industrial production.

The deal is notable because it shows a large technology company committing directly to recycled feedstock rather than relying solely on offsets or recycled-content pledges. It also highlights how corporate procurement can help early-stage climate technology cross the gap from demonstration to first commercial facility.
