Microsoft's October 7 event in San Francisco is set to focus on local AI and agentic AI, with CEO Satya Nadella, Windows chief Pavan Davuluri, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang scheduled to appear. Engadget expects the company to position the event as a reset after two years of mixed results from Copilot+ AI PCs, including the removal of intrusive Windows 11 features and the tepid response to Recall.

One likely centerpiece is the Surface Laptop Ultra, announced in June as one of the first devices with NVIDIA's RTX Spark Arm chip. Engadget notes the laptop has a 15-inch mini-LED display with up to 2,000 nits peak brightness, a large trackpad, and full port selection, but Microsoft has yet to disclose pricing or a release date. The RTX Spark chip includes 6,144 Blackwell GPU cores, 20 Arm CPU cores, up to 128GB of unified memory, and draws up to 80 watts.

On the software side, Microsoft is expected to push agentic AI in Windows. Engadget points to Project Solara, Office Agent, and a revamped Copilot app as signs of the company's direction, while cautioning that such agents could raise privacy concerns similar to Recall. The broader challenge, according to the report, is making agentic AI compelling beyond developers and early tech adopters.
