Microsoft has officially unveiled its redesigned Copilot app, combining AI chat, coding, and autonomous agents into a single interface. The app is organized into three tabs: Home, Code, and Autopilot. Home merges Copilot Chat and Cowork and includes a "Today" dashboard for surfacing emails, meetings, and Teams threads.
The Code tab is an unexpected addition, letting users create and share cloud-hosted internal apps such as trackers and dashboards. Autopilot, previously known as Scout, is now a cloud-based "digital teammate" that can run tasks while users are away. Microsoft stresses that Autopilot operates within a customer's tenant with its own identity, memory, and permissions.
Pricing shifts to usage-based billing for agentic features and certain models, while the standard Copilot license covers chat and Office apps. Microsoft is positioning the new Copilot as "the AI built for work" and comparing its potential impact to Office, though the source notes competition from Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta is far more intense than in the PC era.
