Microsoft has shared new details about its upcoming Surface Laptop Ultra at an event in San Francisco, according to Engadget. The company previously teased the device as "the most powerful thing we've ever made," and now confirms it is designed as a "builder-class PC" for developers and AI researchers rather than typical consumers. Engadget notes that the machine would be overkill for web browsing, video editing, or gaming.

The laptop includes a 15-inch Mini-LED PixelSense Ultra touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio and peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. It also has a haptic touchpad that Microsoft says is 30 percent larger than those on typical 15-inch Surface notebooks. Ports include USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a full-size SD card reader.

The most notable addition is a port called Magnetic Connect, which combines magnetic charging with a traditional USB-C jack. Engadget reports that other specifications had been hard to come by until today, and the story is still developing.
