Elon Musk has donated at least $276 million to Republican groups since July, according to The New York Times, making him the party's top known donor and the largest established midterm donor. The bulk of that money—$158 million—went to the Senate Leadership Fund, the main super PAC working to secure a Republican Senate majority. That single contribution ranks among the largest political donations in American history.
Musk also gave over $76 million to America PAC, the super PAC he founded in 2024, plus smaller amounts to other conservative groups, including $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, $10 million to a PAC supporting Ken Paxton's Texas Senate bid, and $10 million to the Republican Governors Association.
Across the full 2025-26 election cycle, Musk has donated roughly $366 million to federal committees—significantly more than the $290 million he gave in 2024 to help President Trump return to office. This comes despite his announcement in May 2025 that he planned to spend "a lot less" on politics in the future, a promise he has so far not kept.
