Elon Musk’s America PAC is concentrating its midterm spending on the Senate races most likely to decide control of the chamber, according to a WIRED tracker. The super PAC, which spent more than $260 million to help elect Donald Trump in 2024, is now pouring millions into contests in Texas, Ohio, Iowa, and elsewhere. But the money is not evenly split: the bulk goes to opposing Democrats rather than boosting Republicans.
In Texas, home to several Musk companies, the PAC has spent roughly $9 million attacking Democrat James Talarico, while only about $1 million has gone to supporting Republican Ken Paxton. Similar patterns appear in Ohio and Iowa. Overall, for every dollar America PAC spends supporting a Republican candidate, more than two dollars go to oppose a Democrat. The targeted races represent the Democrats’ clearest path to retaking the Senate, which could expose Republicans—and Musk—to investigations and regulatory pressure.
