At its DevDay event, OpenAI announced a new $500-per-month subscription called Pro 500, its most expensive consumer plan to date. The tier offers the company's highest usage allowance and includes access to Ultrafast, a premium speed feature that lets Codex and Work apps generate up to 300 tokens per second. Ultrafast is also being made available to API users.
At the same time, OpenAI is reducing the value of its existing $200 Pro plan. In Codex and Work, included usage will drop from 20 times the Plus allowance to 10 times, and in ChatGPT, weekly GPT-6 Pro message caps will fall from 200 to 100. Existing subscribers will keep their current limits for a period and later receive a one-time credit. All Pro subscribers will get a single Dot, OpenAI's new personal AI agent, and conversations with Dot will not count toward ChatGPT usage limits.
OpenAI also unveiled GPT-6.1 Sol, a model it says delivers nearly the same performance as its current frontier system, GPT-6.0 Astra, in coding and computer use while costing one-fifth as much. The company claims Sol is more transparent about its limitations and safer in agentic tasks. It is available starting today in Codex and Work for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education users, with ChatGPT availability to follow. Additionally, OpenAI is partnering with 16 companies, including Notion and Cognition, to let Plus and Pro customers use OpenAI models in those services through a new "Sign in with ChatGPT" option, without needing an API key.
