Philips has released its next-generation Sonicare DiamondClean 9900 Prestige smart toothbrush in the US and Europe, following a July announcement. The device is priced at $379.99, undercutting Dyson's $499 CameraJet, and a broader global rollout is planned for 2027.
The toothbrush includes a touchscreen with eight cleaning modes and three intensity levels, plus a 12-segment mouth map that shows where brushing has been effective. A light ring and third-generation AI model, combined with Philips' SenseIQ technology, detect excessive pressure and automatically adjust vibration intensity.
The previous DiamondClean model remains on sale at a discount from its original $429.99 price. While the new device adds capabilities, it does not floss automatically. The source notes that some early adopters have reported issues with Dyson's competing CameraJet, but does not mention any problems with the Philips unit.
