Pinterest has introduced Beauty Guides, an AI feature that turns saved beauty Pins into actionable plans for salon visits. The company demonstrated the tool on Tuesday, saying it is powered by Pinterest Intelligence, its visual intelligence and generative AI system. At launch, the guides work for Pins related to hairstyle, hair color, nail shape, and nail finish.

When a user taps “Get the Guide” on a qualifying Pin, the AI translates the image into terminology used by stylists and nail artists. This gives users the specific phrases to ask for, such as “balayage,” “root melt,” or “almond nails,” rather than relying on a photo alone. The guide also lists how long each step might take, a price range, and maintenance needs like how often to trim, tone, or touch up.

The feature is a practical, everyday use of AI because it fits an existing behavior: bringing an inspiration photo to the salon. Having the correct terminology on hand helps users discuss changes or edits more clearly, and the upfront time and cost information can support planning. The launch scope is limited to beauty categories, but it demonstrates Pinterest’s push to make AI feel immediately useful in routine decisions.
