WIRED tested Quince's Expandable Small Carry-On and Large Check-In Suitcase Set ($270) against a comparable Away set and concluded that Quince delivers a nearly identical product for a significantly lower price. The two brands' hard-shell suitcases share similar dimensions, capacity, weight, and features, including 360-degree spinner wheels, Travel Sentry locks, removable laundry bags, and lifetime warranties. WIRED found the Quince bags slightly lighter and, once expanded, the large check-in held more than Away's equivalent.
The reviewer, a self-described longtime Away user, was skeptical at first but found the Quince set equally sturdy in travel testing and appreciated its even more minimal branding. The main drawback noted is that the lack of a logo makes the bags harder to spot on a baggage carousel. Away does not offer a comparable bundle, and its Large Flex ($425) and Carry-On Flex ($325) cost $750 combined, making Quince's $270 set an obvious value play.
WIRED also notes that Quince undercuts other popular luggage brands like July, Monos, Travelpro, and Briggs & Riley, and offers a 365-day return window on unused products. The review's verdict is straightforward: for most buyers, Quince provides the same experience as Away without the premium price tag.
