Meta has introduced the third generation of its Ray-Ban smart glasses at a starting price of $449. The lineup expands with Aviator and Zena frame styles alongside the existing Wayfarer, and Meta says it will offer more than 100 frame styles and color variations across Ray-Ban, Oakley, and its own brand by the end of the year.
The main internal upgrades are battery and audio. Meta rates the Gen 3 for up to 9 hours of battery life, and the frames now have six microphones to reduce background noise. Engadget's hands-on notes that the battery claim will depend on usage and that the Aviator frames felt a bit loose and thicker than some earlier models.
Some promised features are not yet available at launch, including landscape-orientation photo and video capture and Dolby Atmos recording. The Engadget writer says those are updates to look forward to testing. All information in this article comes from that single hands-on report.
