According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's next MacBook Pro will combine OLED and touchscreen technology with a noticeably lighter body. The weight reduction reportedly comes from miniaturized parts and rearranged components inside the laptop.

The device is expected to arrive next month, alongside an OLED iPad mini. It will use the existing higher-end M5 chips rather than the M7 chips expected in early 2027. Current MacBook Pro models weigh from 3.4 pounds for the 14-inch version to 4.7 pounds for the 16-inch model, though the new lighter weights were not specified.

Gurman also ties the product to Apple's new CEO, John Ternus, who has made design a priority. Ternus, a hardware engineer by background, has rebuilt the company's design teams and now has them reporting directly to him — a contrast with his predecessor's supply-chain focus.
