Robinhood is extending trading to weekends and introducing AI-powered tools that let customers build their own automated agents, part of a push toward around-the-clock markets. The brokerage said the new capabilities follow the launch of agentic trading earlier this year.
The AI agents are designed to automate parts of the trading process, allowing users to pursue strategies that run continuously. CEO Vlad Tenev said most markets went electronic about two decades ago and that while algorithms now drive much of the volume, human strategies still have a role. "I don't think that's going to go away," he told CNBC, adding that new asset classes and tools create fresh opportunities for competition.
The company also plans to let users trade crypto perpetual futures in the app, which offer leveraged exposure to cryptocurrencies without requiring traders to hold the underlying assets.
