According to Engadget's October 2026 update tracker, Samsung's support windows vary sharply by device tier. Flagship phones get up to seven years of Android updates, mid-range models five to six, and budget devices four. That means the oldest phone still receiving software updates is the Galaxy S23 series, with support running through February 2027; the S22 lineup and S21 FE were cut off earlier in 2026.

The oldest wearable on the list is the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro from 2022, which get Wear OS updates until December 2026. Among tablets, the Galaxy Tab S9 series remains supported through August 2027, while the Tab S9 FE models are covered until October 2027.

The differences are stark in the budget segment. The Galaxy A06 4G lost Android updates in August 2026, but its 5G variant is supported until February 2031. The Galaxy A15 runs to December 2027, the A24 to May 2027, and the A34 and A54 5G to March 2027. The A73 lost support in April 2026.

For buyers and owners, the takeaway is to check Samsung's security update list before relying on an older or refurbished device. Once support ends, devices miss security patches and apps gradually become incompatible, leaving them vulnerable to hacking and popups.
