Saudi Arabia's Ceer launches EXOBOT, its first electric SUV and sedan
Ceer, a joint venture between Saudi Arabia's PIF and Foxconn, has unveiled the EXOBOT SUV and sedan, marking the kingdom's entry into EV manufacturing.
Ceer, the carmaker formed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and Foxconn, has taken the wraps off its first models. Ars Technica reports the venture is part of the kingdom's push to build a domestic car industry, and that Ceer will start with two electric vehicles.
Electrek adds that the vehicles, called EXOBOT, were revealed on Monday and are an electric SUV and sedan. It describes Ceer as Saudi Arabia's first EV brand and auto manufacturer. The two outlets agree on the basics: Ceer is launching two EVs, an SUV and a sedan. Their main difference is one of emphasis—Ars Technica focuses on the corporate structure and national ambition, while Electrek centers the product unveiling.
With the EXOBOT lineup, Saudi Arabia now has a homegrown automaker to show for its industrial strategy. Neither report specifies pricing, production timelines, or delivery dates.
