SpaceXAI has become a Founding Corporate Patron of the Omacom Foundation, the organization behind the Linux distribution Omarchy. The company is contributing $1.5 million worth of Grok tokens to the project, according to a blog post by Omarchy's leader, David Heinemeier Hansson. Hansson said the tokens will be used to speed up development, review code, and patch bugs.
Hansson, the Danish entrepreneur who created Ruby on Rails and co-founded Basecamp, has also drawn controversy for anti-immigration writings. In a July post, he compared immigrants to wolves and wrote, "When wolves get out of control, you shoot them." Omarchy has previously faced criticism over contributions from 1Password and Cloudflare.
When asked about Cloudflare's contribution on the Decoder podcast, CEO Matthew Prince said he did not think it was his job to "police different people's political beliefs." The Verge notes that the partnership aligns two controversial tech leaders, bringing Grok and Omarchy together under SpaceXAI's backing.
