Spotify said Tuesday that iPhone users on iOS 27 no longer need to add "on Spotify" when asking Siri to play music. The change applies to specific tracks, albums, podcasts, audiobooks, and broader requests like "play workout music" or "play my DJ." Siri can also handle actions such as resuming podcasts, searching a user's library, and creating an AI Prompted Playlist.

The feature works because Siri learns which music app a person uses most often and routes audio requests accordingly. Spotify says this makes hands-free listening feel more natural, letting users focus on what they want to hear rather than how to phrase the request.

Availability is global for iPhone 15 Pro and later models outside the EU, provided Apple Intelligence is enabled in Settings. The change removes a long-standing friction point for Spotify users on Apple devices, though it stops short of deeper system-level integration with Siri.
