Square has introduced a new self-service ordering device called the Square Kiosk. The hardware features a 21.5-inch touchscreen and a built-in AI voice assistant designed to let customers interact naturally when placing orders.

The AI layer is described as agentic and conversational, meaning it can understand a seller's menu and respond in real time. Customers can ask questions, request changes, or ask for substitutions while the system processes the order. Presence detection greets customers as they approach, and payment can be completed via contactless reader or card slot.

The Kiosk is available immediately for businesses on Square Plus or Premium plans. It costs $1,999 per device, plus a $99 monthly software fee. Square positions the device as a way for sellers to offer a more natural ordering experience without additional staff.
