Technics, the Panasonic-owned audio brand, has unveiled the EAH-A1000, its next-generation flagship over-ear headphones. The headline feature is a pair of 40 mm magnetic fluid drivers, a technology the company says reduces vibrations and distortion that can affect larger drivers. This is the first time Technics has used magnetic fluid drivers in an over-ear headphone model.

The headphones also include adaptive noise cancelling powered by three feed-forward microphones and one feedback microphone on each side, which adjusts based on fit and ambient noise. They support the LDAC codec, lossless playback over USB Audio, and multipoint connectivity for up to three devices simultaneously—an unusual step beyond the typical two-device limit.

Technics says the EAH-A1000 can deliver up to 45 hours of continuous playback, though it did not specify how much of that figure assumes active noise cancelling is turned on. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, leaving the new model's market positioning unclear for now.
