Withings has changed its policy for new customers: automatic syncing of health data to third-party apps such as Apple Health now requires a Withings+ subscription. Both Engadget and The Verge report that accounts created on or after October 13, 2026 are affected. Existing users who created an account on or before October 12 keep the feature for free, and The Verge notes that the free access is tied to the account, so it carries over to new Withings hardware.

Pricing details differ slightly between the two reports. Engadget describes the plan as $100 per year, while The Verge lists it at $9.95 per month or $99.50 per year, with a one-month free trial included with Withings devices. After the trial ends, The Verge says syncing pauses but data already in third-party apps is not deleted.

Engadget adds that new free users can still manually export and upload their history, but automatic sync is gated behind the subscription. Engadget also reports that many existing users on Withings' support forum criticized the change.
