Microsoft's next-generation Xbox Elite Controller has apparently been exposed through the company's own Design Lab backend. Redditor u/esketitethan found configuration records and 3D component models for a device codenamed Edessa, linked to a customization product called Beatrice. The files have since been removed, but the leak lays out the major hardware changes coming to the premium controller.

According to the leak, the Elite Controller 3 will give users a choice between Hall-effect and TMR joysticks, both of which use magnetic sensing and should address the drift issues that affected the Series 2's potentiometer sticks. The controller is also expected to replace traditional rumble motors with voice-coil haptics, similar to the PlayStation 5's DualSense. Other additions include a dedicated audio scroll wheel, multiple D-pad styles, low-friction silent sticks, new paddle designs, and 27 mapped topper and paddle configurations.

The leak describes four SKUs, including 'Elite Complete' and 'Elite Base' versions, each available with or without motors. Skeptics on Reddit questioned whether Microsoft would build its own Hall-effect sticks and noted the continued absence of a built-in gyroscope. Given previous leaks and an accidental sale of what seemed to be a real device, an official announcement could come soon, but Microsoft has not confirmed anything.
