Xiaomi unveiled the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China, featuring a more adaptable version of the hardware privacy display first seen on Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra. The phones also bring back rear screens, pack two 200-megapixel cameras, and are available with either of Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips.
The privacy mode can be enabled for specific apps and extends to notifications, floating windows, and split-screen views, going beyond Samsung's implementation. It also supports location-based triggers, such as activating at work or deactivating at home, and can use the selfie camera to detect prying eyes and suggest turning on privacy mode.
The Pro has a 6.4-inch display and a 7,000mAh battery, while the Pro Max offers a 6.9-inch screen and an 8,500mAh battery. Both models feature a 200-megapixel main camera, a 200-megapixel telephoto, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide. Pricing starts at ¥5,999 (about $900).
A global launch is confirmed for later this year, a notable shift after the 17 Pro skipped international markets. The regular Xiaomi 18 and 18 Ultra are expected to arrive next spring.
