Meta is shifting its AI agent Muse from launch to scale. CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors on the company's third-quarter earnings call that the agent has clear product-market fit and that the company is now focused on scaling it to billions of people. Since its early September rollout in the US and Canada, more than 10 million people have used it.
Zuckerberg said Muse is expected to eventually generate more revenue per user than Meta's existing apps. He pointed to shopping as the most common use case, with an average spend of $200 per purchase. Meta plans to build commerce tools that charge businesses fees for transactions, and to fold heavier usage into its AI subscription offerings.
The agent is also part of Meta's plan to make money from its AI glasses. Zuckerberg said the company does not currently make a large profit on the hardware, but adding Muse will help sell subscriptions. Muse will arrive on Meta's glasses next month, and some features may require a paid subscription, though Meta has not specified.
