BYD has announced that its new flagship electric sedan, the Great Han (Da Han), will officially launch on October 13. Pre-orders opened in late August, with pricing starting at around 249,900 yuan (about $37,200). The D-segment sedan is BYD's first flagship in its Dynasty family.
The car is offered in three variants: two rear-wheel-drive versions and one all-wheel-drive. The RWD Premium and Flagship trims use a single 370 kW motor and a 102.326 kWh battery, delivering up to 1,008 km (626 miles) on China's CLTC cycle. The AWD version adds a front motor for 570 kW combined, but its range drops to 880 km.
All versions include BYD's Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging, which the company says can recharge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes using 1,500 kW technology, and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. BYD also equips the sedan with DiSus-A air suspension, rear-wheel steering, zero-gravity front seats, and the God's Eye B smart driving system. The model is larger than a Tesla Model S and closer in size to a long-wheelbase Mercedes S-Class.
