At the IAA Transportation show in Hannover, BYD launched an aggressive push into Europe's heavy-duty freight market. The centerpiece is a flagship 44-metric-ton electric tractor, a direct bid for a segment long dominated by established continental truckmakers.

Alongside the truck, BYD showcased ultra-fast commercial megawatt charging systems. These are designed to address one of the biggest barriers to electric freight adoption: long charging times that cut into delivery schedules.

The combination of a high-capacity electric tractor and rapid charging infrastructure signals that BYD is not just entering the market but aiming to set the pace. The move intensifies competition in zero-emission trucking, where European incumbents are already racing to expand their own electric lineups.
