GM’s third-quarter US sales fell 6% to 670,974 vehicles, and the company attributed the decline partly to a smaller EV market and discontinued models. The steepest drop came from the Chevy Equinox EV, which had been GM’s best-selling electric car in 2025 and the third-best-selling EV in the US. Deliveries fell to 1,905 units, a 92% plunge from more than 25,000 in Q3 2025.

Other GM EVs also lost ground. Chevy Blazer EV sales dropped 84% to 5,199, Silverado EV sales were down 58% to 1,655, and GMC’s Hummer EV and Sierra EV each fell by more than half. The new Chevy Bolt added 3,866 sales, but Cadillac’s electric SUVs were the exception: Lyriq, Optiq, Vistiq, and Escalade IQ/IQL combined for roughly half of GM’s EV volume, even though each model was down year over year.

Through nine months, the Equinox EV remains GM’s top-selling EV with 18,154 units, down 65% from the same period in 2025. Electrek notes that GM has promoted itself as the No. 2 US EV seller behind Tesla, but its recent focus on gas vehicles and the end of the federal tax credit are hurting momentum. Reuters reported GM plans to build about 35,000 Bolts before production ends in Q1 2027, about 75% fewer than originally planned, leaving room for cheaper rivals like the Toyota bZ and Kia EV3.
