Electric Porsche Boxster spotted testing at Tesla Supercharger
The sighting suggests Porsche's upcoming 718 EV is validating Tesla's Supercharger standard and may adopt a single NACS port.
A prototype of Porsche's electric 718 Boxster was seen charging at a Tesla Supercharger in Carson, California. The vehicle, captured in photos posted to Reddit and later shared by Electrek, still wears light camouflage around its bumpers and lights. The charging port sits in the rear center, and the car was plugged directly into the Tesla network with no adapter.
The single NACS inlet is notable because current Porsche EVs carry two ports: a NACS connector for DC fast charging and a J1772 connector for AC level 2. If the Boxster sticks with this setup, it would mark a shift toward NACS-only charging for at least Porsche's smaller sports cars.
The test location is close to Porsche's Experience Center near Los Angeles, and two Porsche employees were reportedly in the car, indicating a deliberate evaluation of Tesla's Supercharger network. Porsche has not announced the vehicle's launch, but CEO Michael Leiters said in August that the company will build the model, calling it the best solution economically.
