AITO, the Chinese luxury SUV brand developed by Seres with Huawei technology, confirmed at the Paris Motor Show that it will launch in Europe in fall 2027. The lineup includes the AITO 9, 8, 7, and 6, all offered in China as battery-electric or range-extended EVs. The company sold 426,000 vehicles in 2025, more than any other Chinese luxury brand.
The brand is giving itself a year to complete certification, including EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval and a five-star Euro NCAP rating under the 2026 protocol. It also pledges GDPR compliance and plans local tuning, multilingual voice controls, and a service network. However, it has not announced prices, launch markets, dealers, or European specifications.
AITO is downplaying its Huawei connection in Europe, where several governments have restricted Huawei in 5G networks. The Paris press kit credits the "SERES MF Platform" and unnamed partners. In China, Huawei handled product definition, design, and sales, and Seres reportedly paid Huawei about 10% per vehicle. That arrangement changed in September 2026, with Seres taking over those roles.
The source notes that AITO's China sales have slowed in 2026, and EU trade policy is a risk. Chinese-built BEVs face EU anti-subsidy tariffs up to 35.3%, and an October 2026 EU-China agreement halves exports of Chinese hybrids and plug-in hybrids to the EU, though it is unclear how range extenders will be treated. AITO will also compete with BYD and Xpeng, which are already established in Europe.
